Pamela hopes for her students to love making music. As a teacher she works to develop the skills of sight reading, proper technique, practice tools, knowledge of music theory and history, and positive performing experiences for all her students. Students of Pamela’s have participated in the Music Development Program, Texas Music Teachers Association Theory Exam, Achievement Auditions, UIL, I SOLO’d with SOLI, Winter Festival, MACSA Performance Club, biannual studio recitals, and more. Pamela believes the aim for piano lessons is for students to be well rounded musicians capable of playing piano in whatever capacity they most desire throughout their life.
Pamela became a piano student at age 6 and spent many years in lessons and participating in competitions and recitals around the San Antonio area. She received her Bachelors of Music in piano performance from Texas State University in 2012 where she studied with Dr. Kwak and Dr. Woolsey. Most recently Pamela completed her Masters of Music in piano pedagogy and performance from the University of Texas San Antonio in 2015 where she studied with Dr. Keeling and Dr. Crappell. Recently Pamela has also taken on the title of Student Placement Specialist at MACSA working with placing students with teachers and helping the MACSA community run efficiently.
Pamela has been teaching private piano lessons since 2010. She is an active member of the San Antonio Music Teachers Association (SAMTA) and of The National Guild of Piano Teachers. Pamela plays piano for her church and occasionally accompanies soloists and choirs. Every now and then Pamela enjoys joining friends in an ensemble or a performance for special events and sometimes just for fun!
