Ms. Kazumi Yoshizawa is the co-chair for MACSA’s division of the National Guild of Piano Teachers and Center Director of MACSA’s location at Stone Oak. She is also a member of San Antonio Music Teachers Association and Texas Music Teachers Association.
She began taking piano lessons at the age of 7 with Keiko Nakamura and added vocal lessons with Yoko Shibata at 14 in her hometown of Tokyo, Japan. During college she began substituting for her piano teacher gaining her first experiences teaching.
Ms. Kazumi graduated from Showa Conservatory of Music in Tokyo, Japan (founded by Yoshie Fujiwara from Fujiwara Opera Co.) with a vocal performance degree and a middle school music education certificate.
After moving to San Antonio she began teaching at Alamo Music Center and later at Brook Hollow School of Music and Brook Hollow Academy of Music. In 2006 she joined the MACSA family when they joined with Brook Hollow Academy to create their second location.
Today Ms. Kazumi offers her 30 years of teaching experience to San Antonio mostly focusing on beginners to intermediate levels for ages ranging from 5-85 years old. Aside from music, Ms. Kazumi learned Shuji, Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement), the art of Kimono dressing, Japanese traditional watercolor art, and classical ballet. She is also an active member in Alamo Area Partners of Animal Welfare and San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition.
