Student Levels: Beginner to Intermediate
Student Ages: Five to thirteen
Edna M. Salinas has over 15 years of piano teaching experience in San Antonio and the surrounding area. Edna teaches her students basic fundamental and proficient piano skills that will provide a lifetime of enjoyment and accomplishment. She focuses on students of varying ages from beginner to intermediate levels.
Edna began her piano studies at the age of 5 in Eagle Pass, Texas. She also received the High School Diploma of Social Music from the National Guild of Piano Teachers. After high school, Edna moved from Eagle Pass under the teaching of Maria Luisa G. de Riojas. She attended Texas State University in San Marcos where she received a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Pedagogy (1993) studying under the instruction of Dr. Timothy Woolsey.
While working on her degree, Edna commuted to child day cares in the cities of Kyle and Buda and taught group piano lessons. She also taught privately in the Lockhart and Georgetown areas. After completing her degree, Edna moved to San Antonio where she taught private piano for ten years exclusively for Brook Hollow Academy of Music. In addition to actively participating in various UIL music events, Edna participated in annual Piano Guild Auditions and was a member of the National Fraternity of Student Musicians for over ten years.
Presently, Edna continues to joyfully share the gift of music at the piano with students at Musical Arts Center of San Antonio, Inc. (MACSA). She is a member of the San Antonio Music Teachers Association, Texas Music Teachers Association and Music Teachers National Association. She is also a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers and is recognized in the National Honor Roll of Piano Guild Teachers for her success in preparing students in Piano Guild Auditions. At Musical Arts Center of San Antonio, Inc., Edna serves as Performance Program Director and Chairperson for the MACSA/San Antonio Piano Guild Audition Center.
When not focusing her time to the art of piano teaching, she dedicates herself as a wife and mother. Edna resides in North Central San Antonio with her husband Roger and their four children.
