In 1999 MACSA director Kenneth Thompson created the MACSA performance awards to recognize and challenge those students capable of making music at the highest level. The awards combine certain levels of competition success with required performance experience. Awardees have combined quality with quantity which is required for success in the field of music. See your private instructor for requirements.

MACSA Achievement Awards

The purpose of these awards is to recognize the remarkable achievements of the recipients and to set goals for those who have the potential to make music at the highest level. The awards combine achievement through different levels of competition with performance experience. Thus, awardees will have combined quality with quantity; which is required for success in the music field. Quality is measured by a student’s success in various levels of competition. Quantity is measured by the type and amount of intense performance experience that the student has completed. All requirements must be met on the same instrument. Awardees must be current MACSA students or recent graduates (although all past competition experience in Texas is counted). Names of recipients of these awards are on display at MACSA.

If you have not met these requirements but know you can, let this be a challenge to you to work hard enough to reach your potential!
